We Bought two baby Bunny's from our local pet shop and they told us they were both girls. But just recently they have been digging each other. We have never had this problem before so we separated them. One of them has made a little nest but the other hasn't and neither of them have testicles and the black one is defiantly female but we are not sure about the other one. Now the we have separated them the black one won't eat her food she will only eat the carrots we give her.

  1. Pet store animals are usually sold sick. I'd take them to a vet for a check up http://www.rabbit.org/vets/index.html

You shouldn't be feeding babies any carrots or fresh foods.

High quality plain pellets and alfalfa and timothy hay only.

Your cage may be too small too.

  2. Female rabbits will pull out fur the build a nest when they are pregnant or in heat.  My rabbit did it and she wasn't pregnant but she hadn't been fixed yet.  They are probably digging at each other cuz they are both females and females are VERY territorial, mostly with other girls.

  3. by the sounds of it your bunny is pregnant. if she wont eat anything and she is pulling her hair out and putting it into a nest she will probably be giving birth soon don't try to feel the kits or you might risk damage to them. bugs bunny fooled all of us, carrots are actually bad for your rabbits cuz there is to much sugar and it can cause a heart attack or something that will go wrong with their health. try sexing your rabbits again, if you don't know how to just see if their parts look the same and that. try putting some type of box with her with some hay or straw in it so that if she is going to have some babies she will have a nesting box and don't touch the babies cuz then she will reject them and they will die. good luck though! we have bunnies and were going to have babies here very very soon and we love it!!!

  4. You probally got male and female from the sounds of it the one making the nest is due to have some babies anytime soon and she will stop eating but its good she still eating the carrots just give her time she will start eating again but you will have to be patient with her and dont handle the babies when she has them or she will eat them.

  5. Maybe she's sad because you separated her from her friend. :o(

  6. if she is building a nest and pulling fur out she is pregnant. we have now got 12 rabbits at home - we thought our two were girls but when we put them in a hutch together we had to explain the birds and the bees to our 6 and 7 yr olds!! if she is pregnant she will go off her food - if you lift her up and feel underneath you should be able to feel the babies in there. our rabbit didnt build a nest or pluck fur until about 5-7 days before she had the babies. check in the nest each morning to see if she has given birth as they usually do it in the night. it is difficult to tell the difference in s*x between rabbits - our buck doesnt have testicles that you can see either. i would say she is defo pregnant though.

ps - anyone living around swansea want a bunnie, i got 9 that are ready to go to good homes, so let me know!

  7. Fur pulling does not necessarily mean your rabbit is pregnant although her not eating could mean she is ready to give birth soon. Does at maturity or reaching maturity will have phantom pregnancies which causes them to pull out their fur. Pregnant Does will usually pull their fur out a few days to a few hours before giving birth and sometimes stop eating to prepare for the litter.

mounting each other is a sign of dominance between males and females as well as a buck mounting a doe to breed. Aggression is another sign that the rabbits are becoming mature does.

If you are not quite sure how to s*x your rabbits see my questions page on my site or consult your vet. If one is a buck if the doe has a litter then wait until the litter have been sold and get your buck and doe neutered. you can then try to reintroduce them on neutral territiory.

as far as your rabbit not eating her food, give her time.Monitor her closely but do not over handle her at this time just incase she is pregnant.

There is no good putting them back together if they are different sexes or fighting.

Do not keep swapping and changing the food stick to one diet, preferably pellets and vegetables, my site has a food guide for rabbits. feeding carrots alone will not give your rabbit the nutrients it needs to stay healthy

If your rabbit continues not to eat and does not give birth to kits consult your vet.Rabbits who do not eat can have organ faliure as their metabolism is fast meaning that they contantly need a high fibre and nutritious diet to keep then internal organs in good order

  8. get them sexed at the vets, then you can may be establish whats going on,

  9. i used to have female rabbits, and they used to, uh, try to "do it" with each other. i guess it's like a bonding thing because rabbits are like one of the most sexually active animals on earth, and they need a partner, whether it is the same gender or not. so i would take the one who's gender you are uncertain of to the vet, just to make sure. if they're both girls, no problem, just move them back in with each other. as far as feeding, see about buying alfalfa pellets, most rodents like to eat them. also you can find dandelions, clover, and certain kinds of mosses/weeds that they like too. also cabbage and lettuce is something they like. raw veggies in general i guess. good luck!

  10. Oh I love rabbits, just as cute as they are tasty, l*****g my lips...

  11. how long were they together? it might be an attachment issue that is causing the refusal of meals.

try moving the cages so that they can see each other.

try giving her baby food. preferably creamed porridge feed it to her on a spoon. also try kale. cabbage. and then try mashin some carrots and mixing it witih the rabbit food.

but while doing this make sure there is still rabbit food availible for her to eat.

supa rabbit is the best food.

  12. carrots arent good for them like you may think. baby bunnies should never have vegetables and older bunnies should only have dark leafy green vegetables occasionally.

try moving the bowl to another location, some bunnies dont like to eat next to their "pee corner" other than that call the pet store and ask them for suggestions

  13. Rabbits do sometimes pull fur out of each other. If your definitely sure they are both girls you should reintroduce them. As bad as the baldness looks it isn't doing the rabbit any harm. It is just a dominance thing that will soon pass. At the moment i have one bunny pulling the fur out of the other on his face. But rabbits are highly social animals and this is normal rabbit behaviour so i keep them together.
