  1. The coccidiosis is a parasitical disease due to the protozoa of Coccidia family.

The coccidis are parasite of the cells of the intestinal mucosa and an high number of these protozoa can

caused serious forms of diarrea that sometimes could be also hemorrhagic.

The intestinal mucosa develops: - first a barrier effect against some refusal substances and bacterium

present in the intestinal tract, - second an absorption action against the nutritive principles and a riabsorption

of the water contained in the intestinal lumen.

The coccidis alter the correct functionality of this barrier causing:

    · the entrance on the blood circulation of noxious substances and pathogenic bacteria,

    · the non-action of water and nutritive substances absorption that are eliminate by the f***s, with a

consequent septicemia or dehydration sometimes very serious.

The symptomatology is more serious in the puppy or in weak subject especially after stressful events as

different diseases in a short period, or after very long travel in not good conditions.

Normally the coccidis are present in the environment and it is only the animal debility that permit its

replication in the organism causing diseases.
