My holland lop rabbit had babies 18 days ago. And I have been giving her treats like always and everything has been fine. But now the babies are allowed to start to eat and drink so i gave them their own food bowl and water but they are still nursing. But now that they are eating i cant give her treats any more because the babies arent allowed to have them so if they get to them it would be bad.... SO are there any treats that it wouldnt be terible if they got to them or that im allowed to give them????? and the type of treats that i was giving my rabbit were like carrots and vegies like that ....alothough she does like store bought treats aswell. And another part question is: once i gave the babies there food and water she thumped @ me and it isnt the first time she thumped at me but she did it a lot and i want to know why and if she is mad that i gave the babies their food and water or somthing else?????

Thanks!!!!!!!!

  1. once their six weeks old, take one bunny out at a time so the mother isn't looking for them when their not there [ you answered my question and my sister and her boyfriend put the bunny in their]

  2. I think the mother is getting jealous that you're providing her babies with food.  She feels she's the mother and that's her duty.

  3. Okay, only give mom her treats when it's just you and her. Don't leave veggies out, also holland lops are a small breed, so she should only get little bits of carrots, or any veggie, for that matter, it's best to give none, but occasional, as in, once every few weeks, is okay, just as long as it's only a little piece. However, small bits of fruit may be given more often, you can give bits of banana, strawberry, orange, apple, pear, anything like that, never give a whole piece though.

And she may be upset that your giving HER food and water to the babies.

  4. the babys are way to young and maybe the mom got rabies or a fllea but i dont know of any treats :( sorry

  5. ok about the rabies or flea i really doubt that she does have either.. i have 2 rabbits one male and one female there cages are faced together so they can see and the male rabbit thumps occassionally and i find that the female who has just had a litter used to thump when she was annoyed so she may just be a little anoyed its really nothign to worry about.. treats i have no idea unless you hand feed the mother some broccolini stems????
