  1. Don't worry! My rabbit just loves the taste of wood and does it too, she had a companion and they did it together, give her a bit of wood to chew on instead, like a dog if it chews you give it bits of wood, my wabbit loves it xxxx

    DOES NOOOT WANT TO ESCAPE!!!!

  2. She is bored pure and simple. She needs a companion.

  3. hi there!! i have 14 rabbits and had the problem till we put on extra bits of wood to the side of the hutch for them to chew on  it does work!!

                    good luck

  4. thats normal, my rabbit ate around our basement door frame because ours rabbits run loose! but it's ok

  5. Does usually chew their hutch if they are un-neutered in an attempt to escape to find a mate. the obvious answer is to get her neutered

Rabbits also like company, once neutered a neutered buck introduced in neutral territory could be another suggestion, but this does not mean that you take less notice of her because she has a mate.

Also rabbits in general will chew their hutch if they are not paid enough attention or not let out to graze often enough.

A rabbit needs at least 5 hours exercise a day.

You can try bitter apple on the wood but i would seriously look at her overall housing and husbandry situation

Never give newspapers to chew on as the ink can be toxic.

There are plenty of rabbit toys available nowadays

  6. a rabbit loves to gnaw on objects to keep its teeth healthy and short to stop your rabbit from chewing its cage try use bitter apple spray just spray it on the cage where its chewing and the taste of the bitter apple will stop the rabbit from chewing the cage

    or

put a block of wood or a stone in the cage to chew on

    or

you can get some liquorice roots real liquorice sticks from any health store and there not expensive, rabbit LOVE liquorice

  7. my chinchilla/ rabbit mix breed does the same thing. You should get a bigger cage or get a mate.

  8. It's in a rabbits nature to chew.  For my bunny it didn't matter how many chew treats I gave her, she chewed on her hutch too.  Eventually I looked into it and found that putting a bit of watered down vinegar on where she chewed would stop her.  It works because the smell and taste of the vinegar is unappealing to the lil bun.  But rabbit's still like to chew, and there's not much you can do to stop them.

Some things to give her to chew on might be- Phonebook, Newspaper, Shoe box, Wood, or cat toys to throw around.

    Hope this helps!

  9. She's probably bored and doesn't like being cooped up outdoors.

  10. yeah your rabbit prolly wont stop chewing even if you offer other alternatives to the hutch. You should get the stop-chew spray, they sell it at most pet stores it is bitter apple flavor or something that should stop it from chewing. When mine chewed on my walls i put lemon juice on, that stopped him for a bit.

  11. The simple answer is you can't. Let her out of the hutch as often as possible. Put wood from an apple tree in the hutch for her to chew on. Perhaps you could buy her a bigger hutch, she's probably making an extension. That was a joke - sorry.

  12. there rodents they gotta chew on something, their teeth always grow

  13. He`s trying to escape - imagine a rabbit down his hole in the wild and he comes across a big tree root  - he will simply knaw his way through it.
