Question:

Rabbit nesting and being territorial?

My rabbit is a female and is not fixed, she's about 4-5 years old. She's been starting to build a nest in her cage. All on one side of it. She shreds her newspaper and puts it all in the corner and it look like a nest. She's not pregnant. She arranges her cage, like toys all in one spot, litter box on the other side, and her food dish in one spot ( in the middle of her nest). Whenever i reach in to get her food dish, or even put my hand near her "nest", toys, litter box, or anything of hers she attacks me. It's really freaky she's a very gentle rabbit when outside of her cage but when ni try to get her food dish, like i said, she attacks me. Could anybody tell me why she does this? I've heard of "phantom pregnancy" could that be the problem?

  1. my rabbits preg and she wont build a nest in her nesting box she has chosen to use the opp side of her cage does that make her a bad mom? I can feed and water her and clean the other side of her cage but if I go next to the nest she will growl and try to attack me
