  1. Yes, they make good pets - just do some research and pick the breed you think will fit you (like picking a dog breed).

If you don't mind cleaning it's cage at least twice a week and spending a fair amount of time with it, learning how to handle it (and practice), trim its nails every 6 - 8 weeks, do minimal grooming (depends on breed), and make sure you're feeding it quality food then yeah, they're easy to take care of.

I couldn't possibly tell you everything you'd need to know to get and take care of a rabbit but can give you a few tips and a good link or two.

Choosing a good rabbit is a bit like choosing a good dog.  You want to get one from a good breeder that shows their rabbits.  There are lots of ARBA rabbit shows all over the country where rabbit breeders/exhibitors show their rabbits.  It is much like a dog or cat show.  Find those breeders and buy from them, not a backyard breeder (someone who just lets their animals breed for the heck of it or for trying to make $)

Buy "Storey's Guide to Raising Rabbits" by Bob Bennet if you're 14 or so or "Your Rabbit - A Kid's Guide to Raising and Showing" by Nancy Searle.  Those books are excellent even if you don't plan on showing your pet rabbit.

Check out the 47 rabbit breeds recognized by the ARBA (the AKC of rabbits).  Click on the photos of the rabbits to go to that breed's national breed club to learn more about that breed.

Don't buy from people claiming to have rare rabbits or rare colors.  Most likely it is a scam.  There ARE rare rabbit breeds but they are recognized by the ARBA and are listed on the American Rare Breed Livestock Conservency's website under rabbits.

Most exhibitors will sell pet quality rabbits for about $20 - $40 depending on the breed.  Their show rabbits will be a bit more.  Sometimes quite a bit more depending on the quality, show record, and part of the country you live in.

Have fun learning more about rabbits.  Its is a lot of fun showing them.  You ought to look into it.  Maybe even join 4H and do the rabbit project.  Try attending an ARBA sanctioned rabbit show near you one weekend.

  2. i love my rabbit but she can get pretty iratated, but thats just my bunny. others are realy nice. ive only had one bunny that was skiddish. she is a holland lop. but shes only nice around me. i love rabbits. they are so sweet. they need exersize like dogs though. they arnt that hard to take care of and you can find rabbits realy cheep. i would get a bigger breed of rabbit like a lop or some kind, but make sure it doesnt have long fur cause it is very hard to take care of.

  3. yeah i loved my rabbit until she died (from old age). but yeah there easy to take care of u just need to clean the cage often.
