Question:

Rabbits and Guinea Pigs together?

I own a rabbit and it seems really lonely most of the time. I was considering adopting a guinea pig. Is it such a bad idea to have both a rabbit and a guinea pig in the same cage?

Other than another rabbit, what other kind of animal can i consider adopting as a companion with my rabbit?

  1. the only thing is a rabbit. because no other animal can take a kick from a rabbit.

  2. Rabbits and Guinea pigs can live together u just may need to make sure u have an extra hutch or something just incase they dont get on u would be better picking the guinie up in the morning so they have the day to make friends if they are going to but i cant see it being a problem ask at the pet shop.

  3. i have both a rabbit and a guinea pig and they are caged together and they do great.

and they also keep them together at pet stores.

  4. well i see guinea pigs and rabbits together all the time. just if it is a male bunny i wouldn't get anything cause he could get agressive torwards another animal. if it a girl bunny i would say ok to a girl piggy.  hope she is ok!  lol

  5. I see them together all the time as well, however, rabbits & guinea pigs should not be housed together because of the risk of transmission of Bordetella from rabbits to guinea pigs

  6. uhhhh it might work if your willing to take the risk,i would adopt one then i guess see how it turns out.if not mabe another rabbit of the same gender? or a ferrit?

  7. No, you can't keep a rabbit and a guinea pig together because of their different nutritional needs.  You can keep two rabbits together and they will get along fine as long as they have been neutered.  You definitely can't keep unneutered males together but you may be able to keep unneutered females together.  However, I think it is still best to neuter both.  Also, I think that a rabbit can over power a guinea pig and it will go into shock and can die.

  8. no its a bad idea. they are fine to play together for a couple hours but they CAN NOT live together. rabbits can kick very hard.

if u are wanting to get an animal for your rabbit. just get another rabbit.

if u are wanting to here are some things you NEED to know.

before introducting rabbits they should be spayed or neuterd..

this makes introducing rabbits very easy. nd  then wait 2 and a half weeks before trying to introduce them.

    hokay.

boy & girl (theses are saying the first rabbit (in this case a boy) is the one you have first.. and the second rabbit (a girl) is the one your introducing)..

so u have a boy and bring a girl-one of the easiest, often fall in love at first site. but not always

girl & boy-somtimes easy, often fighting

boy & boy-somtimes easy, somtimes diffifult, usually fighting at first but not all impossible

    two babies-Extremely easy

baby & adult-somtimes difficult, but goes well if the adult is tolarent

and when you go to introduce them it is best recamended that you get a cage and put the new rabbits cage aginst the old rabbits cage for about a week.  and then for the next week you need to get the old rabbit out and let the old rabbit roam around the news rabbits cage. and the next week get them out a let them interact BUT NOT IN A PLACE THE OLD RABBIT HAS MARKED HIS/HER TERRITORY. (do it in a place the rabbit has never been) nd then when you thnk its time to put them in the same cage Wipe The Old Rabbits Cage Down And Wash Everything even the bowls and everything... change the bedding or watever you use

this way the old rabbit wont thnk he has been there and hasnt marked his territory yet. that way the older rabbit wont try and defend it (i can break it down 1 more time for you) WONT START A FIGHT WITH THE NEW RABBIT

  9. i use to have my rabbit and two guinea pigs together they will get along really well and love one another very much. my guinea pigs would enjoy sleeping next to my rabbit since he was much more bigger and fury. they eat about the same thing.

  10. Owning a Rabbit and a Guinea Pig would be fine but I don't think they would want to "play together"

  11. Yes they can live together. I have seen them put together all the time. They get along well.

  12. No, it's not a wise idea to put rabbits and guinea pigs in the same cage together. Even through they may get along or be the best of friends, if your rabbit gets excited and jumps up or kicks out and the guinea pig just so happens to get kicked, even the smallest of rabbits can accidentally kill a cavy with a kick. 13. NO! My last guinea pig died by my rabbit.=( I sugggest not. Rabbits have very powerful legs and can easily kill them with a kick.

  14. They put rabbits and guinea pigs together at the petting zoo.

  15. Guinea pigs should only be housed with guinea pigs. Period. The outcomes of mixing the two are usually tragic and its usually the guinea pig that gets injured or killed.

Adopt your bun a same-s*x friend or an altered opposite-s*x friend!

  16. Rabbits and guinea pigs get along well, (I have both :D)

But, make sure theyre all female!!!!!

The only problem I have is that the guinea pig will try to mate the rabbit or vice versa. Other thhen that they are great together.
