  1. Hammocks are nice toys.  For the ferret, there are a lot of very simple and cheap toys with cardboard boxes and tubing.  Dryer vent tubing and pvc piping are some good sources.  Ferrets are weasels in the skunk and otter family so they den under ground and in tunnels.  Get a rubber bin with a lid and cut holes in two sides and attach tunnels.  In the box I put shredded paper and toys or hammocks.  Another really enjoyable toy is a digging box.  In winter you can put snow in it or uncooked popcorn.  Again, use a rubber bin and give your ferret a digging bonanza.  Rubber balls, loud toys, rope toys, squeaky fuzzy toys.  Mine have a castle home made by joining several bins and tubes.  Playing games are just as easy to make.  Make a parachute out of a small blanket and swing them gently.  Let them help you make the beds and let them play in the covers.  Ferrets don't have the problem with their teeth growing like the rabbit so you don't have to worry about them chewing holes in your fabric.  A milk carton with some kibble in it will keep them moving it around fpr quite some time.

    Although rabbits are rodents, they also love to have boxes with multiple exits like the ferret and shredded paper is really fun to roll around in.

    Make sure all toys are safe. They must be untreated by chemicals, have no loose parts, and if the rabbit manages to chew something off, throw the toy away immediately. Here is a list of simple homemade toys:

        * Old books or phone books

        * Plush bunny to groom

        * Old blanket or towel, to bunch up and rearrange

        * Paper bag or box of hay (e.g., a cereal box or any small box)

        * Plastic keys (the kind for babies)

        * Piece of wood for chewing

        * Container (empty plastic butter bowl, etc.) with something inside to make it rattle

        * Untreated wicker baskets

        * Rolled up newspaper, paper grocery bags

        * Cardboard toilet paper, paper towel rolls or paper cups (not the wax kind)

        * Carpeted cat condo

        * Cardboard tunnels

        * Untreated grass mats

        * Set up an obstacle course. Use cardboard boxes, tunnels, and baskets. Just make sure it is not too high, for the rabbit's safety.

  3. Rabbit toys are simple. Both my rabbits love it when you get old toilet paper rolls, and put hay in the middle.

    And ferrets, one of the simplest things is a cardboard box and old shopping bags ( cut the handles so they cant get caught). I've seen ferrets go nuts for this.

    On a side note. Just so ya know normaly, its a bad idea to mix ferrets and rabbits. It's a bad idea to mix ferrets and any roddents really.
