Question:

Rabbits fur falling out?

My rabbits fur keeps falling out, it's in her water(I use a bowl), food and bed.

But she doesn't have any bald patches anywhere. Maybe she's just malting? But I'm not sure.

Also how much pellets should she be eating a day? I give her a cup everyday and she's got nothing but crumbs left the next day.(then again that's over 12+ hours)

she is a mini lop (well a really big mini lopped)

Oh yeah, and why won't she eat grass, carrots, veges, or fruit?

I know rabbits don't usually eat, or even like these things.

But all my other rabbits would go nuts if they saw me holding veges or fruit.

(I got her from a guinea pig breeder, who bred rabbits on the side)

So she's probably been stuck in a hutch her whole life!

How much exercise (outside time) should she have a day?

All answers are very much appreciated

  1. Give her some time to get used to you.

The fur is probably her molting(sp?). I was panicked when I saw that with my rabbits, but I looked into why and found out it was completely natural.

I give my rabbits oxbow guinea pig pellets(I do not give rabbit pellets to my guinea pigs because they do not contain vitamin c).

I refill the bowl as needed and feed hay in a couple baskets. They like to use them as litter boxes. Veggies are fed everyday, and with two rabbits they eat them all. They prefer leafy greens such as romaine, spring mix. They dont always eat the other stuff like collard greens, kale, carrots.

I dont typically allow my rabbits outside. They dont trust me enough. I do grow grass for them and feed that to them though.

  2. My baby boy is molting right now. he is a 1 year old american fuzzy lop.

  3. look outside -the weather is changing.  rabbits molt (shed) several times a year -especially if kept outside.  brush the rabbit gently and skip the carrots.  rabbits need lotsa fresh leafy greens & timothy hay.  their diet is just like the pigs!  they can even live in the same habitat as long as there is plenty of room for each to run & have a space to hide during the day.  they are happier outdoors -since cold weather is approaching, layer their habitat with straw and cover the litter box (if you use one).  they are more tolerant of cold temps than heat.

  4. maybe shes pregnant they pull their hair out when they are she should eat 1/2 a cup of pellets or she might be scared she should get about an hour of exercise
