Rabbits getting in my basement?

we have a hole on the outside of our house where rabbits are getting in the basement. The babies keep falling in the sub pump hole and drowning. we tried to seal up the hole but the just dig a new one. How can we fill the whole and keep them from digging a new one?

  1. What are your basement walls made of?  I have a hard time imagining rabbits burrowing though cement block or concrete,  Or does your basement have an earth floor (soil instead of concrete)?

    The only critter that ever ended up in my basement was a bird in the middle of winter, and I have no idea how it got in (maybe through the chimney).  The next morning I opened the back door and basement door and it headed for the light, into sub-freezing temperatures.


  2. if you are not able to dig down and line the area with chicken wire, scatter some moth balls around the area. they'll stay away. good luck!
