Rabbits- how to name them?

I am translating a story about rabbits for children into English. One rabbit is male and the other is female. I need to show that in the englsih translation without giving names. any idea how to do it?

Mr. rabbit?

Ms/Mrs/Miss rabbit?

If that's not ok I would consider giving them names or adding a sentence to explain one is a boy and one a girl and from then on say "the boy rabbit" and "the girl rabbit" (sometimes you have to take some liberties with translation - it's not always possible to do exactly what they have done in the original language - if it was it would be a much easier job ;D).

I can see your difficulty though - you're translating from a language where they have genders (like german, french, etc) right? tough one.

I mean there might be technical names like doe/stag - but if they are not commonly known there is no way a child's going to know...
