After immediate success with the are my Rabbits male question posted I have another for you. The cage I bought them has the typical section for sleeping and I make them a nice bed with saw dust and hay, only thing is they never sleep in it they just pish in it. I have triad the litter tray thing but with no success, not a problem at the moment but when it gets cold I wonder if they will start to use it then?

  1. Put a litter tray in the bedding compartment where the rabbit is messing and let the rabbit use it as a toilet. Then after about a month of the rabbit messing in there( obviously clean the tray out every other day) move the tray to the larger compartment.

I have successfully done this with my rabbits. It does also help if your buck is neutered. This stops the habit of marking all areas of the hutch making toilet training  harder.

  2. Rabbits always go in the same place! Unfortunatly they have chosen there bed lol! Make them an alternative bed-also keeping the bed they use for peeing!

Once they have established a routine put a tray in that corner and they will go in that! I had the best house rabbits for years, and he never went anywhere but in his tray! The key is letting them pick where they want to go!

    Hope this helps

  3. I have the exact same problem. They use there bedding area for the toilet and my best advice is to set up an alternative bed somewhere else so they have a choice. In the winter they will need to go back to the first bed as its warmer (presuming it is covered with wood). So clean it out every 2 days so it is more hygenic.

I hope you find a way to solve it. Good luck!

  4. try taking away the bed and just keep the litter in there, he can sleep in the bedding trust me I work at a pet rescue and the rabbits like to just sleep in the bedding. It may take awhile for him to get used to using his litter box though. Good Luck!
