Rabita Baku heads for title match at FIVB Women’s Club World Championship
A semi-final match of the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship took place between Rabita Baku and Mirador Santo Domingo on the Thursday, October 13, in Doha, Qatar. Rabita Baku was able to qyuickly make a clean sweep over Mirador Santo Domingo and move on
to the final of the championship.
Not only did Rabita Baku manage to win the match by bagging three sets back to back, they earned each one of the frames by an easy margin, with the last one coming without much of a challenge from the opposition. By the time that the Rabita Baku club started
celebrating their entry into the final of the tournament, the score board showed the following final set scores: 25-15, 25-15 and 25-8.
The coach of the Rabita Baku club, Zoran Gajic, made the following comments about the match at the press conference: “We knew we were stronger, but that didn't mean we could relax. Despite some minor mistakes in the last set, I'm satisfied with my team's
performance of today. I will not discuss tomorrow's result because I never do that. Only God knows what will happen tomorrow.”
On the other hand, coach Wilson Sanchez of Mirador Santo Domingo expressed himself in the following words after the match had come to its close: “I would also like to congratulate Rabita Baku. They really deserve to be in the finals. It will be a great game
to watch tomorrow. Both teams are quite similar, so I have no idea who will win. I do know that, despite today's bad performance, we will do our best to take home the bronze medal.”
The opening set saw Rabita Baku take the lead early in at 8-2 and stick with it till the very end at 25-15. The second set saw a tie at 10-10 but Rabita Baku was able to get the advantage at 18-12 and go on to win the frame at 25-15. The two set wins got
the Rabita Baku high on confidence and they were able to seal the deal on the third set at 25-8.
The player that was able to make the most points was Rabita Baku’s Natasa Osmokrovic as she scored a total of 19 points in the entire match. On the other hand, Mirador Santo Domingo’s most active players were Brayelin Martinez as well as Jeoselina Rodriguez
both of whom made their presence felt by scoring nine points each of their team.
Next in line for Rabita Baku is the gold medal match that will take place against vakifbank telekom Istanbul of Turkey. On the other hand, the bronze medal match will be played between Mirador Santo Domingo and Sollys Nestle Osasco.
