Rabita Baku settles for top slot in Azerbaijan’s National League ranking
Rabita Baku, the top women’s volleyball club in Azerbaijan got hold of the top position at national level.
The National Volleyball League of Azerbaijan completed its seasonal run on Saturday, 7th May. In the last game of the National League, Rabita Baku was challenged by equally proficient and talent team of Azerrail Baku.
The Rabita Baku squad grabbed great success in the running season. They clawed their way to the 2011 GM Capital Challenge Cup. Likewise, the team enjoyed the limelight at national level. Rabita Baku’s captain girl Natalya Mammadova was always ahead of everyone
in every game and she played an instrumental role in her team’s success.
Unfortunately, Mammadova got injured a couple of days ago and couldn’t show up for the support of her team in the last match of Azerbaijan’s National League. However, Polina Rahimova took the responsibility on her shoulders to lead the team to success. She
exhibited a memorable performance in the match against Azerrai and successfully accomplished the goals of her team.
Rabita Baku was equipped with great player-line. Sanja Starovic, Olga Ativi and Silvija Popovic performed amazingly well and dominated the whole scene. They put up a combined effort and launched their authority on Azerrail side. The opponents couldn’t stand
the powerful spikes and gave in.
Besides Babita Baku and Azerrail, there were two other teams which fought for the third and fourth position in the ranking. The girls of club team Igtisadchi defeated Lokomotiv team and earned better status. Ultimately, the teams held their positions on
the ranking chart in following manner:
