Race-horse Dream Ahead will not be a part of French Guineas – Horse Racing Update
The French 2000 Guineas which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 15 will not be featuring the talented race-horse Dream Ahead.
The list of 15 possible contenders of the race that was declared on Thursday did not have the name of Dream Ahead, after which the trainer of the colt David Simcock is planning to send out his trainee for some other meeting that will be taking place in the
second half of the racing season.
The race-horse was amongst the hot favourite contenders of the Guineas market along with the other champion Frankel. This season is not proving out to be a lucky one for the race-horse since he was also taken out of the Qipco 2000 Guineas last month because
of his trainer having some concerns over the ground. The temperature these days is also dry and so the race-horse will not be a part of the Guineas event. The son of Diktat will have to wait for the weather to become a bit less dry.
The trainer of the colt was approached by the correspondents at the York race-course. Simcock was reported as saying, “They are giving it as good ground (at Longchamp), but I believe it’s good to soft on top and like a road underneath.”
He further went on to say, “The ground is vital for him and we’ll learn nothing by running him on ground like that, so we’re going to sit tight and wait for the rain.”
The race-horse has also been registered for running in the Abu Dhabi Irish 2000 Guineas and then the St. James’s Palace Stakes that will be run over a distance of one mile. Other meetings that Dream Ahead will be contending in the upcoming days are the Golden
Jubilee Stakes and the Darley July Cup.
Simcock has not said whether the race-horse will be going for the Irish Guineas as he says that he is considering the option, but still thinks that he will perform better in the second half of the season.
