Race-horse Sam Adams suffers career ending injury – Horse Racing News
Champion race-horse Sam Adams will no longer be taking place in any racing events as he suffered an injury that rendered him unfit for the sport.
The race-horse was scheduled to take part in the Gowise Champion Novice Chase that was placed as a feature for the upcoming Punchestown Festival. Unfortunately, the 20-1 favourite for the event received a career ending injury.
The race-horse does have a very extra ordinary career as he was able to win three of the four races that he contended throughout his racing career. The eight year old race-horse managed to win twice over the hurdles in the 2009 racing season. Sam Adams is
owned by the Gigginstown House Stud.
The colt started to participate in the fence events at the Fairyhouse race-course this January. The last public appearance that he made was in the Naas meeting that took place over a distance of two miles and four furlongs in the beginning of last month.
This was far from the race-horse’s best performance, as he was beaten in this race by a distance of about 12 lengths by the champion colt Prince Erik.
When his trainer Paul Nolan was approached by the correspondents regarding the injury of the race-horse, he was reported as saying, “Unfortunately he suffered a bad enough tendon injury and won’t be racing anymore.”
The sport of horse-racing is currently followed by millions of people throughout the world. All those who are part of the business of horse-racing or the industry are working hard day to make this sport as safe as possible by eliminating all the problems
that are faced by the jockeys, trainers, race-horses and fans.
One of the most important and dangerous problems that the industry has to face today is that of the injuries the race-horses suffer every now and then. These injuries often end the career of the race-horse and make them unfit for future racing or can sometimes
become the cause of their death. The unfortunate injury to Sam Adams is just one example of how serious the training and care of these animals are. The sport is working hard to prevent these injuries and to ensure a safe environment for the race-horses.
