Rachel Alexandra’s colt happy and healthy
The 2009 Horse of the Year, Rachel Alexandra, gave birth to two time Horse of the Year, Curlin’s foal at Stonestreet Farm. The 125 pound bay colt was born at 2:40 pm with a white star emblazoned, the same way as his mother.

The colt and his mother made their first trip to the Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital "as a precautionary measure after her delivery for pain management related to the birth," was a statement that came in from the Stonestreet Farms.
The examining team at the hospital declared both the mother and her colt were fine and were thriving.
"Rachel has been under the care of Dr. Bonnie Barr, who is doing a great job of making sure both mother and foal are doing well," the statement issued Friday evening said.
"Rachel has proven to be an extraordinary mother and taking to her feisty colt right away," said Stonestreet owner Barbara Banke. "I'm a Rachel-chondriac. We are taking every precaution to ensure that Rachel and her colt are healthy and happy”.
The two will stay at the medical facility for a while just to avoid any uncertain or unexpected issues that might spurt out, and thus would leave after a couple of days.
The foal after all is a high priority for the owner, who was the most excited at the birth who is now looking forward to raising and then racing the best. She wishes that the colt would follow in the steps of his parents, and will bring pride and prosperity
to the Stonestreet Farm. Both Rachel Alexandra and Curlin carried the Stonestreet silks to the winners’ enclosure.
The owners of Rachel Alexandra next in their minds have the Darley stallion Bernardini for breeding. His fee this year is $150,000, and he will also sire Blind Luck’s foal this year.
How successful the off springs of these racing legends will prove to be is too early to judge, but then the extraordinary pedigree does creep in some ideas into the mind. Rachel Alexandra’s colt has not been named as yet, but will probably a mix of
the father’s and mother’s name.
