Rachel Dees pockets two gold medals in Cleveland: 2011 High School State Championships
The 2011 High School State Championships saw several thrilling swims in Division 1 (1A-4A) category in Cleveland, Mississippi, on Tuesday, November 1.
Ripley's Rachel Dees won 100m breast-stroke title in a winning time of 1 minute and 09.78 seconds, while Dees claimed second gold medal in 100m butterfly with a spot of 1 minute and 01.57 seconds. In the meantime, Carly Good of St. Andrews won 200m IM crown
with a winning mark of 2 minutes and 15.65 seconds, whereas, Sister Alex pocketed 200m freestyle title in a spot of 1 minute and 56.84 seconds.
Meanwhile, Maggie Gleason took home the 100m back-stroke crown in 1 minute and 01.04 seconds and Sanchez won 500m freestyle title in a time of 5 minutes and 11.05 seconds. Niijor May of St. Joseph Catholic topped 50m freestyle race in a winning mark of 25.32
seconds.
In addition, St. Andrews’s squad of Gleason, Carly Good, Alex Good and Mollie Sheppard took home 200m medley relay crown by submitting a winning time of 1 minute and 55.43 seconds. Moreover, St. Andrews clinched 400m freestyle relay title by posting a victorious
time of 3 minutes and 45.41 seconds.
On the other hand, Wibobo topped 50m freestyle race in a matchless time of 22.81 seconds along with a gold title in 100m freestyle meet with a blot of 50.49 seconds.
Additionally, Collins won 500m freestyle crown in a winning mark of 5 minutes and 16.31 seconds including the victory in 200 IM with a spot of 2 minutes and 08.80 seconds.
In the meantime, Morgan Stone took home the 100m back-stroke title in a winning mark of 1 minute and 01.20 seconds, while Chris Luke claimed 100m breast-stroke crown in a blot of 1 minute and 08.89 seconds. Furthermore, Sacred Heart's Mikhail Dixon pocketed
200m freestyle title in a winning spot of 1 minute and 58.14 seconds.
Next, St. Aloysius’s team of John Phillips, Luke, Winston Hayes and Wibobo clinched 200m free relay title by hitting the finishing wall in a fastest time of 1 minute and 37.02 seconds. Last, but not the least, St. Joseph Catholic claimed 200m medley relay
crown by thrashing the finishing wall in a time of 1 minute and 51.32 seconds.
