I was wondering how are people categorized in Saudi Arabia? Is it done by race or by ethnicity?

Like are there black and white categories like in the U.S?

  1. well what BK says is true..

    Having said what he said..

also there is no certain classification of a race represented by the Saudi nationality..

This country is as diverce as USA for example.. There are representatives of every race that are Saudi citizens... Black, brown, olive complextion, light, white, oriental, etc etc..

its all due to the fact that Mecca being the center of Islam. drew many people from all over in the past coming to make hajj.. In the past, when travel was much harsher through the desert.. many pilgrams saved all their life just for a chance to go to hajj in Mecca.. with their money gone, they stayed, found work, married into the community, settled and stayed.. Some being here for hundreds of years, then when the country became nationalized, all peoples were incorporated into the citizenship... If you ever have the chance to see hajj, you'll be amazed at all the different Saudi's.. blonde haired blue eyed, white skinned folks,  to the blackest black... ..

also after all this.. we are not so prejudiced.. We dont discriminate in the races.. Islam tells us that the best of us are the ones best in faith, not color, or where you are from, or status in life..

So you will see many cross/raced marriages in this country also...

  2. no there's no ethnical classification.

saudis come from many different places, as makkah was the birthpalce of Islam and it has been visited for centuries by muslims from the world over, some decided to stay there along the years and they have become saudis.

For foreigners there's 2 different types of IDs, green ones for muslims, emaroon ones for non muslims. this is the only differentiation there is, as non muslims are not allowed to enter the holy cities of makkah or madinah, so that is the simplest way to verify.

  3. there is no thing such as sunni or shiti race!!!!!! this is a belief

  4. ......they're categorized as shiites and sunnis.....the dominant race in Saudi Arabia are the sunnis which include the Royal Family.....
