  1. i dont think they present any good perceptions or values at all. I had this happen the other day a teen came up to me and for what ever reason (probably thinking i would think its funny or see how i would react) goes into these real racist black jokes and im just hurting inside. I told him they were NOT funny and the ppl who he heard these jokes from are insecure and possibly racist. (i say possibly because i wasn't sure if they were children or adults). As it turns out they were other teen boys. perpetuating stereo types VIA jokes is just ignorant and we cannot move forward as human race without giving basic respect to one another. I explained it and i dont believe he will repeat the jokes. In a way im happy he did because i know my opinion will trump other teen boys opinions. So at least it presented an opportunity to talk with him about the subject of maturity and respect for one another.

  2. there never gonna stop so might as well for some fun

  3. As long as they're not TOO offending/bad I think they're ok. And obviously you have to say them to the right people. If you know there's someone around who takes things like that seriously then it's not a good idea to tell them. But most people who tell them aren't being serious. Racial jokes really aren't the best kind of jokes though. They're kind of stupid/lame if you ask me.

Basically, I would say if you couldn't tell this joke to an easy-going, nice person (who can laugh at such things) of the race the joke is about then you shouldn't say it.

  4. It's always going to be something. But as a person who went to a school where I was the only person of my race, hearing too many jokes like that would make it harder for me to make friends. Most kids did make jokes like that at my high school, but the kids I hung out with were really open-minded. Punk kids, anarchist kids and hippies were my friends and we made fun of each other based on a  lot of things (including race), but we knew each other so it wasn't a cruelty thing. I would guess that if kids could handle it when I was young that they can handle it now. Times have changed it's too difficult for someone who is grown to really say whether it's good or bad. I would guess that it can be good and it can be bad depends on the situation.

  5. well they are not good or bad

    GOOD:

-you can get a laugh out of the joke

-because kids now a days dont actually mean what they say

    BAD:

-the only problem is that other people might take them seriously

-and even thought they are just jokes the people who say them show no respect for other people.

    Its a 50 50 thing

  6. racism is never a good thing. honeslty if you think about it, there is nothing really good about it. yes, it is good to celebrate our differences but if people make jokes that some may think are harmless may actually have a serious effect on someone else. who knows, they could grow up and have a serious problem from one too many jokes. many schools have serious problems with racism. yes, we all know we can never fully end racism but we can hope to make it a smaller issue. the first step to doing this is awareness and if everyone who makes these jokes and admits not only to themselves but to other people that they are racist then maybe they can, from there find a solution to the problem...

  7. When you live your life in conscious awareness there is no need to take inventory good or bad.
