why is it that most intelelctual and scientific achievemnts we enjoy today and owe our comfortable lives to come from the white-europeans (this includes americans and canadians)?

if the white race is not indeed superior, then why are all the third world countries still wallowing in c**p?

slavery, colonization, oppression is an invalid excuse - look at the jewish people!

  1. I think this question is too much of a trick. 1st of all MANY modern technological inventions span ALL races. There were also MANY MANY inventions in the past that were started by other ethnicities. They have also inspired many modern comfort inventions. I would say that a BIG reason that you think this to be true would be that for soooo many years people of other ethnicities were viewed by the white-Europeans as a lower species.

I think as far as your 3rd world countries comment goes....America and Europe have a vivid history of helping countries that benefit us....so places that serve us better as poor countries...well why wouldnt we help keep them there.

I don't think you have a wide enough view of the world....I think your question is shallow and uneducated. All that and I am descended from "White Europeans"

  2. I don't know and I will not pretend to have an answer. Maybe due to regional locations/climate which played a role in genetic make up over time?

Whites did cause harm to other races but so did every other ethnic group in history. Look at how many warlords we have right now in 3rd world countries fighting amongst their own races (I don't see what whites had to do with that).

Saying whites only advanced because they destroyed everything that was in their path is not a neutral statement. Saying whites are superior race is also not a neutral statement. There has to be middle ground.

  3. Strength, through innovative thought can be helpful. Everybody gets a chance. Old civilizations yield to younger, stronger versions of what intellectual thought has preceded it. You have what opportunity has granted you. The ability to perceive what  is to you is correct.

  4. Namely because the intellectual traditions of Christianity and earlier Greek and Roman philosophies combined in the West to give rise to a civilization that strived for knowlege and allowed capitalism to flourish.  You saw many of the same things in Asia at different points in history, and you're seeing it again now.

There does seem to be some genetic differences in IQs amongst the races/ethnicities.  Ashkenazic Jews, for instance, have the highest IQs of any ethnic group at about 115.  Blacks in Sub-Saharan Africa tend to have the lowest.  How much of this is cultural and how much of this is genetic is hard to say.  All odds say it's both.  That said, whites and Asians do tend to have higher IQs than other racial groups.

But within the range of all humans there is a great deal of overlap between the races.  I think it's best from a society's standpoint that we see each other as individuals and not pre-judge.

  5. Wow.

  6. whites have to put another race down to get where they want

whites are not superior they just were the first race to destroy another to get what they wanted

  7. Actually, the groundwork for a lot of this stuff came from other parts of the world - eg both China and the Middle East had centres of learning very early on and they pioneered work on medicine, maths and astronomy.

However, civilisations rise and fall.  Wars, religion etc took their toll and education went on the back burner.

In the West, the civilisation was on the rise as personal freedom advanced.  The printing press was developed and books translated.  People built on the existing knowledge.

The achievements came as western civilisation was on the rise.  However, you seem to have forgotten the Far East where many of the technological advances have emerged in recent years.

Third world countries are "wallowing in c**p' because they did not manage to join in as partners when the tehnological advances were made and are struggling to catch up (not helped by loan repayments to the 'civilised world') and some are still fighting wars and corruption.

The world dominated by people of anglo saxon descent may be superior in terms of wealth and power but that is not my definition of superiority (incidently, there is no such thing as a white race!).

Israel cannot be used as an example as it is a country created because of political power and it is heavily nurtured and protected by that power.

Teodoroisms - IQ testing is culturally biased as it is based on Western education norms so cannot be used as an example either.

  8. Teodoroisms beat me to the answer.

    Give him the 10 points.

    d**n my slow typing fingers.

  9. Dude, I am not going to charge you with racism.

Western European society is probably the most self reflective and open of all the societies that have eisted, certainly in terms of allowing differences of opinion.

As you know, this was a process, but it was western thinking, spurred on by the Rennaissance, that allowed us to develop wide ranges of views within close proximity without the constant need for persecution on the grounds of race or religion.  I am not in any way saying that history has been smooth, in Europe or elsewhere, but western thinking is more exploratory, more willing to question, less willing to die in the face of adversity and more willing to adapt.

I don't see this as racial, but it could be noted that Europeans have always been more culturally diverse (if not always accepting) than other cultures.

The slavery and colonialisation to which you allude have seen terrible acts committed by Europeans, and non-Europeans,  Many slave dealers, the slave hunters and many owners were not white: they were blacks selling blacks into slavery.  Colonisation in places like India and Australia have led to stable democracies.  the divisiveness that still exists in India today is not because of any European influence.

    My two cents.  Good question!

Mapper: there is a modern 'noble savage'myth that the Mayans were some sort od super advanced people.  They were advanced, but had been in decline for centuries prior to Spanish influence.  While I am not in favour of western explorers spreading diseases, you must remember that they did not know, at least at first, that they were immune to diseases that would ravage the natives.

Little Tubo: whites do not 'put down other races' in the way that you imply, but I will say: different times, different values and you are benefitting today from what Europeans did hundreds of years ago.  I am not going to feel guilty because some Europeans set out to explore.

Genocide like acts were not pioneered by white any more than any other race, and please, give me one example of genocide by white european explorers.  Yaeh, there wre cases of thnic cleansing, but other races prcatised this too.

Also, you must concede the benefits of modern science.

  10. The white Europeans brought with them famine and disease to the new worlds they "discovered". The Mayan society was far more advanced before they were wiped out by disease. Basically the whites messed the rest of the world up so bad that they were able to take advantage of everything. It's too bad the natives of North America helped the Europeans survive scurvy and winter, things might be a lot different.

  11. Wow

  12. You are racist. Just because some countries live miserably, because of their government, doesn't make them stupid or inferior. If look around you in US half of the big businesses are managed by the people who you think are inferior to you. The most ancient civilization is from middle east, and everything that European culture has is originated from those countries.Read the history, and see who caused all that misery in half of the world, whites. Almost every single country in Asia, Africa were white colonies. OPEN YOUR RACIST EYES!
