  1. It depends on what you are expecting, but thats really lame.

  2. You can race anything.

There are 100hp miatas road racing in what is called "Spec Miata" You compete against basically stock cars. It makes it all about the driver and having fun.

There are 1000hp turbo'd Nissan and Hondas on the track.

Some people even daily drive 700hp 4 cyl cars.

You can leave some 4 cyl cars stock engine wise and put a few thousand into suspention and out handle most 50,000+ cars.

"Perform well" is subjective. It depends on what you are racing against and how much money you have.

There is always someone with more money to go faster then you.

  3. yeah especially if their is a turbo but the main factor is how much the car weighs like the focus accelerates well cause its a light car

  4. yes, yes , yes

  5. Go test drive a mitsubish lanver evolution also known as an evo or drive a subaru sti. the evo has around 290 hp at 300 ft-lb torque and the sti is over 300 hp at 290ft-lb torque and both of these cars are 4 cylinder engine and turbo charged but what makes them really fast is that they are both all wheel drive so that means when you take off from a dead stop your less likely to spin the tires. Think about it a stock mustang gt dont even come with that much power and its heavier and when you step on it all it does is spin the tire so my answer here is yeah a 4 banger can perform well. Oh yeah they also get better gas mileage.
