Racing fans entertained by exciting 375m races at Mildenhall
The Mildenhall Greyhound Stadium hosted an action-packed 10-race card last night. Racing fans were treated to some fantastic 375m races with exciting results.
The excitement got off to a strong start in the A6 race held at 19:30. Coming into the race, joint 2-1 favourites were chosen by the odds makers. The beneficiaries of this title were Oakgrove Kanga Halfpint Milly. Oakgrove Kanga proved to be the star of this race, finishing with a great time of 24.20 after leading third.
Second place was jointly held by Houldyourwhist (4-1) and Miss McCarthy (7-2). Both finished in 24.26, putting them in a dead heat tie. They were only ¾ lengths behind the leader, and had clear runs.
Halfpint Milly, the other joint favourite, led to third and placed fourth with a time of 24.42, two lengths behind the joint second-place finishers. Checking in at fifth place was Davys Spitfire (9-2), who was 1¾ lengths behind Halfpint Milly in 24.56. Hes Taylor Made finished last with a time of 24.64, a single length out of the fifth position.
Iveno Class (3-1) was in a class by himself with his first-place victory in the A7 race at 19:45. He ran a great race and led second to finish in 24.09. However, he was not picked as the favourite to win. That title belonged to second-place finisher Safepac Typhoon, the 9-4 favourite coming into this race. He finished three lengths behind Iveno Class with a time of 24.33.
Carving out a third-place finish was Crackator Roxy (3-1), who bumped and led first to end up 2 lengths out of second place in 24.49. In fourth position was Enclosed Order (6-1), who was enclosed in a 24.71 finish, 2¾ lengths behind Crackator Roxy.
The bottom two spots went to Hardale Blue (7-2, fifth place) and Transtown Bud (7-2, sixth place). Hardale Blue tied the fourth-place time of 24.71 by a shoulder, while Transtown Bud placed last in 25.01. He was 3¾ lengths behind fifth place.
The A6 race at 20:00 saw a poor performance from a heavily favoured contender. Pre-race bookings listed Madam Tagg as the 5-2 favourite, but she faltered greatly and wound up in last place. The victory belonged to Fairlie (3-1), who led first and ran well to a great finish of 23.90.
Banging out a second-place finish was Bangor Jen (3-1), whose finishing time of 24.02 put her 1½ lengths behind the winner. The number three spot was claimed by Dusty Soot in 24.22, which put him out of second place by 2½ lengths.
There were joint fourth-place finishers in this race. The position was shared by Blackstone Sean (4-1) and Blackhawk Flyer (3-1), who finished a shoulder behind third place in 24.22 for a dead heat tie. 4 lengths separated them from favourite Madam Tagg, who crowded first to take a disappointing sixth-place finish in 24.54.
Mildenhall Greyhound Stadium will host another great 10-race card on Friday 3 September. The races will begin at 19:30 with an A7 race.
