Question:

Racing heart and breathing problem?

It's been about 5 hours now and my heart has been racing every so often. Like, it'll be normal, then it starts racing, normal, races, etc. And on top of that every few minutes or so, I can't breathe for a short second. It's as if someone is grabbing at my lungs for a second and lets them go. It's scary. What could this be?

  1. It could be a number of things. You may be suffering from a series of panic attacks, or reacting to increased stress that you may not be aware of. In short, go to your doctor. If you can't get in to see him/her, then go to your local emergency room.

The longer you leave getting a check up, the more you will worry, which will in turn increase your symptoms. Knowledge is power...

Good luck and try to stress less...

  2. It could be a number of reasons..but we cannot speculate until you get on a cardiac monitor and have a 12-lead EKG taken. You did not mention your age and history. Anyway, you either have atrial fibrillattion or paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia or just tachycardia brought about by stress or anxiety. Either way you will never know until you get yourself checked.
