Racing through BMW- Sauber’s 2010 Season
The Swiss Formula One team, BMW Sauber is all ready to show some great race finishes as the Formula One caravan reaches its last and final part of the season. Twelve races of the calendar have already gone and the rest of the races are very crucial as they are going to decide the next Champion of one of the biggest sports in the World.
All the teams are working hard to end the season with the maximum possible points and place themselves as high as possible in both the Championships. Sauber is also looking forward to giving some great finishes for the remaining races of the year.
The season did not start off very well for the team as it went pointless in the first six races of the season. The Japanese driver of the team, Kamui Kobayashi retired from five of the races at the start of the season. Whereas the other driver, Pedro de la Rosa was only able to finish one of the first six races and that too at twelfth place.
The first and a single point of the season came to the team at the Turkish Grand Prix when Kobayashi finished in tenth place in the Turkish Grand Prix. While the next race in Canada also granted retirement to both the drivers thus leaving the team with only a single point till the ninth race of the season.
At the European Grand Prix the team finally had its stars shinning bright as they were able to get six points for the first time since the start of the season. As this time the Japanese driver was able to finish the race in seventh place after having started from eighteenth place on the grid. It was a big achievement for the team though his teammate once again returned pointless.
Later at the British Grand Prix the team was again lucky to have bagged another eight points when Kobayashi finished in sixth place. This time bringing eight points home making a collection of fifteen points for the team, all contributed by the same driver.
The German Grand Prix was a disappointing weekend for the team as both its drivers returned from the race completely empty handed. De La Rosa finished at fourteenth and Kobayashi at eleventh.
The best race of the season for the team had been the last one before the Formula One caravan stopped for a summer break. The Hungarian Grand Prix where both its drivers bagged points, for the first time in the year.
This time the Spanish driver ended in seventh place on the track being able to bag six points. While the Japanese driver finished the race in ninth place adding two points to the pool of points for the team.
Currently, the team stands at eighth place in The Constructors’ Championship with twenty-three points, one place behind Williams that have bagged forty points till now.
On the other hand its drivers, Kobayashi, and, De la Rosa, stand at thirteenth and seventeenth position in the Drivers’ Championship race, having earned seventeen and six points respectively.
Now, as the team moves to the next race of the season scheduled to be held this weekend, at Spa-Francorchamps, the team hopes to snatch a few more points. They all seem to be very hopeful with the way things had improved for them over the past few races of the season.
Also, the team has made a few changes to their car which they think are going to work pretty well for them.
Well, a few more days to go and we will see a lot of action and drama, unfold in Belgium.
