I am mixed with Asian and White, but people don't call me "Asian". They just call me "mixed".

Then why do they call people mixed with black, black? Like Obama and Halle Berry?

How is he the first black president???? He looks like the first 1/2 black president to me. He is also a "white" president at the same time.

  1. RACISM WHERE IS THE RACISM IN THIS ISSUE. Secondly  your making a assumption not a fact. MANY LATINOS ACTRESS AND ACTORS ARE NOT FULL BLOODED HISPANIC , MANY OF THEM FROM  CHRISTIANA AUG, CARMEN D,   SELMA HAYRICK , THE YOUNg GUY FROMMALCOLMM IN THE MIDDLE ARE ALL MIXED WITH IRISH OR MIDDLE EASTERN DESCENT . However , MANY of them consider themselves hispanics  THIRD HALLE BERRY MOTHER WHO IS WHITE , TOLD HALLE THAT SHE BLACK TOLD HER THAT  SHE IS BLACK. Finally the children that are mixed with black and white that are darker  skin tend to have more discriminating problem than the lighter  ,  to more European  bi racial children. I bet  LEONA LEWIS  , MARIAH CARREY , THE GUY THAT PLAYS INPRIS ION BREAK  , VAN DIESEL , GET A BREAK THAN HALLE , SHMAR MORE ,   BECAUSE THEIR SKIN IS LIGHTER , THATS  why many lighter , fair skin  , black and white bi racial children  tend to consider themselves mixed.  The darker skin  bi racial  consider themselves black because  Society  and media consider them black .  I mean its not just blacks that call Barack black it iis the media .

  2. One drop rule.

  3. one drop he is white, one drop he is black.

    one drop he is man.

  4. u r awesome!!! i have the same question!!! i think most people see a glass half empty...

  5. With all the problems out there... it needs to be simply.... AMERICAN... no hyphens. Stick together people. Lets work together.

  6. It all goes back to the "one-drop" rule in the early days of America, which stated that if a person had one African ancestor, he/she would be considered black. Though there's no actual "rule" now, it left a deep impression on how people consider others in terms of race. That's why Alicia Keys, Halle Berry, Barack Obama, etc. are considered black by others and themselves. Even though people constantly go off on how Obama is biracial and should be considered so, the truth is that most people in America will still consider him black. That's just the way it is, and I don't believe this way of thinking will change drastically for a long time.

  7. This race classification rule started in the 19th and 20th century when white people believed they were superior and stuff - hence they had many african slaves/indian slaves etc.

Sadly it exits even today and even if you are asian white, if your skin colour is white then you are classified to be part of the "white" race. If your skin colour happens to be darkish brown then you are classified to be part of "black" race.

When will people learn that not having the menalin pigment in the skin does not make you superior whatsoever and vice versa....

  8. "Black" is not just a racial term. It's an ethnic term too. You can consider Obama a member of the black american ethnicity. You are considered "mixed" race but you still get to say you're an "Asian American"

Why did you downvote me? Unlike you I'm black so I know what I mean.

  9. Maybe because their skin is still darkish.
