Question:

Rack on bike seatpost questions?

Hi I want to put a clamp rack on my fully carbon OCR C3 bike. I realized I had to replace the carbon seatpost with an alloy seatpost and eventually clamp it on. Is this ok? Do I have to do anything else maybe put some tubing or tape around alloy so it doesn't touch the CF inside the frame? IDK.

Second question, if I apply too much force on the seatrack, what's going to happen? will the alloy seatpost be enough to break the carbon frame bike?

  2. First, seatpost mounted racks usually have a weight limit of about 10 pounds so you are in no danger of causing a frame failure.

Before installing an alloy seat pin into a carbon frame, obtain some lube made especially for this and apply it inside the seat tube (not on the post)... don't use regular grease. You can get this lube at most bike shops.
