Rad Martinez excited to fight at Bellator 80 – UFC News
Rad Martinez is a young mixed martial arts specialist who has made his way up to Bellator 80. Unlike others, he has spent most of his post-teen years training, working and fighting. Now, he is preparing for the semi-finals of Bellator Season 7 lightweight
tournament. Moreover, another new addition to his life would be his marriage.
Martinez currently is an unbeaten Bellator fighter with 3 wins in his bag. He holds 13 wins and 2 losses in MMA. Martinez will be facing IFL and WEC vet Wagnney Fabiano, who stands with 15 wins and 3 losses in MMA and 1 win and 0 loss in Bellator. The event
will take place on Friday at the Seminhole Hard Rock and Casino in Hollywood.
“Just when you think you don't need any more motivation, something comes in your life that gives you more motivation than you've ever had before,” said Martinez in an interview with MMAJunkie.com.
On the other hand, he is also excited about his wedding with fiancée Patricia Kirkland, who hails from New York and is a former national champion cheerleader. Their love story started off when Patricia saw Martinez’s profile on ESPN, when he promised to
take care of his father Richard, who is bedridden following a grave traumatic brain injury twenty one years ago.
Impressed by the fighter’s dedication towards his dad, Patricia had sent Martinez a letter praising his character.
“Patricia didn't bat an eye when she came to visit and saw my dad,” he said. “She jumped right in to help. Even after seeing my schedule and how I have to take care of my dad, she still wants to help and be there for me.
“I just proposed to her a few weeks ago, but I knew a couple months ago that she was the one for me. She brings a lot of joy into my life where there wasn't much before.”
For now, Martinez is training hard for his fourth fight under the Bellator banner. He is coming off a win over Nazareno Malegarie at Bellator 76. Similar to him, even his opponent is an unbeaten fighter, which is a concern for Martinez.
