Radamel Falcao is a better scorer than Sergio Aguero, says Atletico Madrid legend Paulo Futre
Atletico Madrid legend Paulo Futre believes that his former club’s new signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276 is a better goalscorer than Sergio Aguero, who parted ways with the Madrid outfit earlier in summer transfer window despite scoring 74 goals in 175 appearances.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 International, Aguero, had been looking for a change of scenery in the summer and eventually chose Manchester City as his destination despite being linked with the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Juventus.
The diminutive striker was the inspiration that drove on the Colchoneros and they demanded a hefty fee for his services, something which the ultra-rich owners at Eastlands were only too happy to do. Coughing up nearly €36.5 million, the Citizens added another
marquee signing to their already bulging squad.
With the departure of the Sky Blue International, Atletico had been left with only Diego Forlan as the proven goal-grabber and at the age of 32, the Uruguayan was in the twilight of his career.
In order to fill the gaping hole left by Aguero, the Indians targeted a host of top-quality forwards but Radamel Falcao was on top of their wish-list.
Falcao, 25, was a relatively unknown player only a couple of seasons ago but he truly made his mark in the 2010/2011 campaign not only Portuguese football but in Europe as well.
Scoring an incredible 38 goals, the Colombian became one of the most sought after players on the continent and had Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United tracking his movements.
However, in a bizarre turn of events, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/River-Plate-c40368 man completed a €47 million switch to Vicente Calderon, only days after penning a new deal that was to keep him at Estadio do Dragao.
Now facing the challenge of filling the boots of Aguero, Falcao would need to be at his mercurial best in order to impress fans and coaches alike at his new. This is something which Atletico legend, Paulo Futre, claims he can easily do, as he is a better
all round attacker than his predecessor.
"This is a great signing. He is a great player, perhaps he does not have Aguero's talent, but he is a better scorer."
The former Portuguese International also drew comparisons between the front man to South American sensations, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ivan-c17215 Zamorano, claiming that the Coffee Growers International was the classic out and out goal-poacher.
"He is more like Hugo Sanchez or Ivan Zamorano, someone who can play in the area, a pure No.9. Falcao needs to be given some time to adapt. If he does not get injured, he will succeed."
While Radamel Falcao scored an unprecedented amount of goals for Porto in recent seasons, he will have to conjure up every bit of his predatory instincts if he is to live to his reputation as one of the game’s elite in his new La Liga surroundings.
