  1. The only Radr Detector/Detector the police actually use is the MK 1 eyeball.

  2. Almost all radar detectors can be detected by police using a radar detector detector (RDD). All radar detectors emit an electronic signal that is detectable, except for 2:

The ONLY radar detectors that were tested 100% invisible to police radar detector detectors in independent tests by Speed Measurement Labs and 1stRadarDetectors.com are the Beltronics STi Driver and Beltronics STi Remote (see sources). NO other radar detectors are 100% invisible to RDD. If you require a radar detector that is invisible to RDD, those are your ONLY options. They are among the most expensive radar detectors available, and their high performance is why. If you can't afford either of these devices and you live in a place where the use of radar detectors is illegal, don't waste your money on a radar detector. You'll get fined for speeding AND for using a radar detector AND they will confiscate the radar detector.

Some previous posters seem to be concerned about POP and instant-on radar. The best radar detectors also detect POP and instant-on VERY WELL and BEFORE they hit you. But the only protection against police laser is a laser jammer, which jams the laser gun speed reading while alerting you, allowing you to adjust your speed if necessary, before turning off the jammer. Although most radar detectors will alert to laser pointed at your vehicle, you then have less than 0.2 seconds (2 tenths of a second) to adjust your speed if necessary. Like radar detectors, laser jammers are legal in nearly every state.

  3. I don't know but I got a cobra for $34 from circuit city and it's undetectable. At least by them bamas in VA it isn't.

  4. Mute question. Most law enforcement are using the trigger type speed detection units. You don't know they are clocking you until they squeeze the trigger, and then it's too late.

  5. Most radar detectors are merely receives that alert you to the present of a radar beam in your area, and as such are not delectable.  Radar jammers are transmitters, and are detectable.

But for the instant on type radar now used by most jurisdictions, by the time you get the alert, it's too late anyway.  Save your money and drive the limit.
