I ended up buying a 8800gts bcuz i thought my radeon was trashed. But it turned out to be a RAM issue and the card is fine. Which card is a better choice to keep bcuz I want to sell the other. My only complaint is the Radeon runs pretty hot and ive known that for awhile. But does the 8800gts keep up in performance?

  1. Someone recently asked this very same question, down to the comment about thinking the 2900XT had dodgy RAM. As I found out, the 2900 guzzles power and spits off a lot of heat, but is nearly as fast as the 8800GTS 640. The Geforce wins more benchs, but it's pretty competitive, and the Radeon takes the crown in more than a few games. I'd keep the Radeon, personally, but only because an 8800GTS G80 is easier to sell than a 2900XT, and likely to yield more cash when you find a possible buyer, too.

  2. 8800 gts.

i have the gts and it is unbelievable. i can play any game on high, all of the new ones. call of duty 4 on highest settings no problem.

and the 640 mb ram really helps.

radeon overheat easily, keep that in mind. geforce has always and will always be the best.

  3. Buy some fans and if your really packing your computer liquid cooler and run both cards. The 8800GTS is already great so now stack it with some great ATI Technology.
