After radiation therapy, the skin is peeling around the nipple, and on the arm, is there any cream to help her deal with the pain, and what should she do with her skin peeling a lot?

  1. Ask your doctor to find out what they recommend.  Cortisone generally helps if the area is itchy.  My patients will use a variety of things, Aquaphor ointment (avail over the counter), or prescriptions for Silvadene or Aquaphor with Lidocaine (a mild anesthetic), or something called Domboro’s solution, and I know there are other things out there as well.  They all work well, but ask your doctor which is best for your particular situation.

  2. I was put on lotion with A & D in it.

  3. I've been applying 100% aloe vera gel (clear) 2x daily, and calendula lotion at night before bed. These have been very helpful in soothing and limiting the damage from the radiation.

You can also apply cortisone cream for itching and topical reduction of inflammation.

I would recommend Tylenol for pain, in the label dosage.

  4. I had radiation for Breast Cancer and found that a prescription for Silvadene was the best treatment for the skin burns.  Just ask your doctor.  Other than that, aloe vera is pretty helpful.

  5. patches, you and me have done that. Are you getting TBI radation? That never happend to me but plenty more did...
