Question:

Radiation exposure and TTC?

My hubby and I have been trying for a baby for 6 months now and it is proving very hard because I have an irregular cycle. Anyway, I work in a veterinary office, and of course we have an xray room. Some weeks I take lots of xrays, then I will go for a week or two and only take one xray the whole time. I know its bad but we don't always wear our lead vests for protection.

I was wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and what kind of info you may have on radiation exposure before and after conceiving?

Is there a possibility of being pregnant already, then being exposed to xrays and it harming the fetus to the point that you really never know that you were pregnant?

  1. Radiation exposure has been linked to fertility issues....so to answer your question...you should definitely be using your protective gear to be safe.

I would google - radiation exposure and fertlity to find specific articles on this.

    Good luck.

  2. You are probably fine, BUT - do not allow your doctors to expose you like this. You have the right to be protected. I don't care how much of a hurry they are in.
