i had a leak but i fixed it theres no sign of it leaking from there. im a deliverary driver and ones it leaked and i opened the hood and it looked like it was coming from the top of the coolent box. (maybe it boiled out or something) i had a ton of deliveries tonight and before i went home i checked the water and it was almost low and i put water in before work to make sure of it. i put water in went home and noticed it was down a bit.

i hope nothing major is wrong with it. ne ideas what it could be. or is it normal for it to go down like that? it leaked like 4 times tonight but didn't really see how it could leak.

  1. Well first you have to see why your coolant is boiling. That means either your radiator is not doing what its suppose to, or your coolant mixture is off. That would be a simple fix before flushing and what not.

Second, check for a second (since you fixed the first) leak, and if no leaks are present then its an internal problem. Do you lose coolant quick or slow?

If its an internal problem to where your losing coolant to the point of refilling overflow tank everyday then your looking at leaking head gasket. Pull out your dipstick and check engine oil, if theres any antifreeze noticable in your oil, then you know the culprit. The only fix for this is to pull the heads and reseal gasket surface.

IF its a slow leak, the autoparts stores sale some excellent engine block sealers that do wonders for those types of leaks. It will run you only $10-25 depending on brand. I used the Bars Leaks Head Gasket Repair, can't remember how much it was though??, but it worked GREAT!!

  2. hi, the best thing to do is to take the car or truck to the shop and have the tech pressure test the radiator and that will determine were the leaks are coming from. good luck

  3. Clogged Radiatior,(flush out refill with water/antifreeze,50/50) Bad thermostat... cheap fix,bad water pump, more expensive. Fix ASAP,cause if you run it hot you will crack head... No your into big money!!! Good luck.
