When we are all forced to go digital, what will happen to the pips? I've asked the BBC, they have no answer.

  1. Why is there a problem with the pips?  Surely the time won't change just because the signal does, so why should they have to use a different way of signalling the time?

  2. They'll put them on digital servers.  Then they'll get pipped out to whoever wants them.

  3. The pips are nothing to do with the digital switchover. The pips come from Rugby and will continue to do so after 2010.

  4. The pips come from an atomic clock in hate to say it France.

  5. i guess we will all just have to wait and see

    regards x kitti x

  6. They're just an analogue sound source broadcast in the same way as music/speech!

The fact that it's a digital transmission makes no difference.
