Radio Code CD-80

Question

Hi, I have an MG Rover, the battery went dead and the radio has since asked for the code, we have tried entering it several times the way instructed to and still nothing, what it does is after 2 attempts reverts to a security time delay. As far as we know this is the correct code, any other ideas?
