  1. Yes Liveatc.net is great, you can listen to towers and centers all over the world live and there is even a forum where people post recorded live clips of all kinds of very interesting clips of ATC such as arguments, funny things, Air Force 1, emergencies, etc.

JFK has its own website at JFKtower.com where you can listen to all of their frequencies as well.

  2. They make small handheld, or larger "base unit" scanners that you can program any frequency into (it will only allow legal frequencies, airline traffic is allowed). The only place I have seen them is Radio Shack. You can purchase a book with frequency listings for just about anything.

  3. you can also listen to atc online

    http://www.liveatc.net/

  4. Yeah, Radio Shack is probably about the best place to buy a scanner radio, I agree. Civilian aircraft frequencies run from 108-136 MHz, AM. The first 10 MHz or so are navigational aids so you won't hear a whole lot there except for the occasional weather broadcast. You can buy one that will work for less than $100. If you want one that's strictly for aircraft, check out Sportys pilot shop online at:

    www.sportys.com

  5. Go to radio shack they should have some or can order something.

  6. Try Sporty's or King Schools.  They both sell them.
