Radio Stations after digital switchover?

The analogue tv signal is set to be switched off soon with all tv stations being broadcast in digital.Are there any plans in the future to switch off all analogue radio stations and have them all on digital too?

  1. Yes, thats why DAB radios are around now.


  2. No - not currently anyway.

    In fact, this is one of the reasons that GCap (the company responsible for Classic FM and Capital FM) have withdrawn many of their stations from DAB, because the government won't say whether it is going to switch off the analogue signal altogether.

    I'd imagine it may well happen in the future, but not for a long time yet and certainly not at the same time as the TV switchover - the radio and tv signals are entirely different things.

  3. ignore the first 2 answerers they obviosly have no idea what they are talking about but they have come out with hd radios but there is no set date as to when they will be completely digital it will most likely be 10 years or more from now

  4. they say they is not, but in time i think all will go digital, the bands are being sold off
