Radio code for Fiat Punto 1998?

My car battery died and so my radio needs a code for me to use it again. I don't have the code anywhere, and neither does the previous owner. I can't get the radio out so can't get the serial number off the back of it. Is there anyway of sorting this out without paying £30?

You should be able to call a Fiat dealer, give them your VIN... that's how it is here in the US anyway.
