  1. There is no 100th caller! Most big radio stations will have a maximum of 10 lines. Providing you can actually get through on the phones, what number caller you are has nothing to do with it, the radio presenter will pick the person who sounds the best to be the winning caller.

Most callers are rubbish, so make sure you

    (a) Know the name of the presenter you are calling

    (b) Know what you are calling for

    (c) Sound enthusiastic

    (d) Don't tell the presenter/producer that you have won previously

When the phone is picked up in your best bubbly voice say "Hi Bob, I'm calling up for the Miley Cyrus tickets, I'm a huge fan and I've never had the chance to see her live..."

Presenters are also suckers if it's your birthday or you have a good reason to win. It makes good radio!

As regards getting through in the first place, that's just luck. Calling randomly when every song starts just in case it's teh right one, might not help you either, I often dump those calls to give other people a chance!

  2. As the other answerer says there's a lot of luck involved. But you can increase your chances.

Whether you get through or how fast is dependent on where you live and the way your phone company is set up - true.

It is also based on the luck of the draw. These are all perfectly legal.

If you really want to win something, get as many people as you can together with the number programmed into their cell phone and when the buzzer buzzes, or whatever the signal is everybody just keeps hitting redial 'til they hear the busy signal, then does it again and again until your hear ringing, or the DJ says he has a winner. Be careful you don't get so excited you hang up when you hear actual ringing, or a pause instead of the busy signal.

Or do the same thing on your home phone with one person trying for each line you have (some people have more than one line at their house). Home phones are generally quicker than cellphones.

Another method works, but only if the station has given a hint as to approximately when they will have the contest and you've done some homework.

"Clock" the station. Write down what happens and when each hour for a few days to get the station's format clock. If you keep good notes you will discover at what time in the hour they play music and when they stop the music to play commercials, traffic etc. (a "break").

If they say "in the nine o'clock hour," starting at the beginning of the anticipated first "break," start calling.

Just have as many people calling as possible starting from about 10 seconds before each "element" ends. An element can be a song, commercial, traffic report etc. You may get lucky and sneak in just after they clear the phones for the contest.

Whether you are No 100 or not is not always important. If you're quick, sometimes you can talk the jock into letting you be the contestant. Remember they want someone who will sound excited (but not crazed) on the promo they'll make of the winner ;<)   Good Luck!

  3. it is just pure luck with the amonut of people calling in to win those kinds of things. Its better to call during non peek listening times when most people are at school/work or sleeping.

  4. After you call once, just keep hitting redial. It's like trying to win the lottery. I of course didn't win.

  5. 2 hands.... 2 phones.

Sometimes I'll commadere my daughters cell too.  In that case using a headset for one of the phones is a big help.

BTW experiment with different phones in your house.  Some redial fatser than others.

  6. duh is right
