I have a 95 Dodge Neon I purchased used back in Sept. Occassionally the radio would not work and then come back again. Now it is out for good. I have a leak into the trunk and it comes out under the back seat. I am working on getting this fixed. Someone told me the radio is bad but I want to make sure the leak didn't cause a problem with the wiring. When the floor gets wet it does soak to the front seat floor if it's bad. I don't know if any wires run under the rug, but I just want to make sure it isn't something else. The time does display as a footnote. Thanx.

  1. Im not firmiliar with neons but i would think there is no way that the leak would cause your head unit to go out.  Although it is odd how it randomly went out.  It may just be lose wiring behind it.  Or its just a sucky head unit.

  2. Some vehicles have factory amplifiers under the front seats and water would cause damage to it, but the neon does not. I don't believe that the leak had anything to do with the radio, sound like a coincidence. What you could do is take it to a stereo shop of a mechanics shop and have them check to see if the radio still has power at all of it's connections. You said that the time still displays, if that is the case the radio is still getting power. If the time is correct on the radio, then you are still getting constant power to it, if it resets every time that you get in the car, then constant is no longer there, but more then likely have ignition power. In any case if you take it somewhere they will charge you and the radio is 13+ years old, so it wouldn't hurt to put and updated radio with better power and quality. Hope this helps
