Question:

Radio power works but no sound to speakers?

I have a 99 toyota sienna. Last week my speakers stopped working. I reinstalled a new stereo thinking it was the stereo. Stereo works fine, all power, can change chammels what not. Everythings hooked up correctly and all fuses have been replaced as precautionary. I am still getting no sound from the speakers. Any suggestions? I thought maybe because there is a adjustable "remote" on the steering wheel for the radio that might have something to do with it. That part works as far as changing the channels but still no sound. Tried the mute button and everything. Still not working. Also hooked a speaker directly into the back of the stereo and that worked fine. (obviously I could bypass all the old stuff and just hook the speakers directly into the new stereo but what a pain) Any suggestions?

Thanks

  1. Depends if the unit came with a seperate amplifier or not. Some do come with a amplifier that is seperate from the radio and if that unit goes bad, you will get what you are describing.

Some units will also shut off the audio if it detects a short to keep from burning the finals that power the speakers.. it may do it if a open exist also.

    keep those in mind....

  2. put new speakers in the car
