  1. Radioactivity is not the same as radiation.

Radiation is sometimes created artificially for many uses, such as X-rays and other medical uses, which is a benefit.

Radioactivity is a property of certain elements, of spontaneously emitting radiation resulting from changes in the nuclei of atoms of the element. Some of those elements are natural, like uranium, and some are artificial, like plutonium. The radioactivity can be harnessed to produce power, as in a nuclear reactor or in a bomb. Clearly, making power is a benefit. A bomb is a benefit also, to the nation using it against an enemy in war, and a detriment to the enemy that gets bombed.

  2. One pro that is rarely discussed is the benifit of mutation.  Although normally seen as a detrimental effect, increased probability of random mutation can increase probability of accelleration of trait development and speed evolutionary progress, however it can be hard to look past the random mutations that have detrimental effect, although radiation only increases the probability of mutation, and is not the cause of the mutation.  Another benifactor for radiation is the sanitizing effect associated with viral pathogens.  Virus are extreamly weak against radiation due to the need to locate a host cell, and often viral pathogens are rendered steril and will not effectivly reproduce upon location of a host cell.

  3. Electrical power from Nuclear fission.

    Medical cancer treatments and imaging

    Sterilize food products
