  1. Salam

If you need guidance its best to do mashwara (consult with ppl)

If there aren't any ppl to discuss with or the matter is personal then you can perform istikhara

The Prophet (Sallal Laho Alaihi Wasallam) used to teach us the way of doing Istikhara, in all matters as he taught us the Suras of the Quran. He said, "If anyone of you thinks of doing any job he should offer a two Rakat prayer other than the compulsory ones and say (after the prayer):

    WAY TO PERFORM ISTIKHARA:

First pray two cycles of ritual prayer [raka'] such that in the first raka' after Surah Fatiha (Allhamd…) recite Surah al-Kafirun (Chapter 109) and in the second raka' after Fatiha (Allhamd…) recite Surah al-Ikhlas (Chapter 112) and after finishing prayer [salam] then recite this (supplication/dua'): Dua in Arabic Text above.

  2. Well if you are doing it just to read something random then it sounds okay, but thinking this and that and expecting guidance and all.... sounds wierd.

If u want to read something random then ok =) but expecting guidance by opening random pages sounds weird =0.

    mmk.

  3. Yeah u can randomly open the Qur'an. If u heard it from arabs, then what they are callin biddah is the Truth, what they're callin the truth is the biddah.

That's the beauty of Qur'an, that no matter where you open, you'll find the guidance of ANY sort.

  4. Well if your not a muslim i dont see why you would look in the Quran for information cause you dont stand by it. Just go and see a well known Imam.. :)

  5. This is not biddah. It's called kheerah, it's allowed.

  6. This is Haram technique to consult for future events or yes or no answer.

  7. Its not gonna magically open up to the page that answers your question...its gonna be a random page.

    So yeah, its innovation.

Now of course if you just wanted to open the quran to a random page and read....thats fine.

  8. It is Haram to try to check the future this way

If you need guidance from Allah prey "Istekhara" and ask Allah to guide you through your life

  9. Salam for you.You can ramdomly opening the Qur'an as you like but you must open it after wudhu. You can recite it any part of it.But if you want to have a guidance from Allah  of certain assue, you must recite certain surah or part of surah in line with your issue..Reciting Qur'an will rewarded by Allah and the rewards will be bigger if you understand it and practised it in your daily life.
