Radoslaw Kawecki captures Men’s 200m backstroke gold – 2012 European SC Swimming Championships
Radoslaw Kawecki of Poland captured gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on initial day of the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France on Thursday, November 22.
The Polish swimmer devastated hopes of his competitors in a ruthless manner and cruised his way towards the finishing end for gold medal. He faced tough contest from Peter Bernek of Hungary in the start but with his alluring efforts in the second half, he
managed to secure the title.
Kawecki enjoyed a lead of just one stroke over his closest swimmer and proved his mettle for the title by producing an effort of 1 minute and 48.51 seconds.
His title claiming effort remained 0.90 seconds faster from Bernek, who stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by producing an effort of 1 minute and 49.41 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Benjamin Stasiulis of France, who stayed 2.40 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and posted a time of 1 minute and 51.81 seconds for bronze medal.
The third fastest swimmer was trailed by Christian Diener of Germany, who stayed 0.66 seconds behind and concluded his race in fourth place by reporting a time of 1 minute and 52.47 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Fabio Laugeni of Italy, who stayed only two strokes behind and hit the finishing end by posting a time of 1 minute and 52.81 seconds.
Laugeni was trailed by Pedro Diogo Oliveira, who stayed only an inch away from his former finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 53.06 seconds for sixth position.
Oliveira was traced by Lukas Raeuftlin of Switzerland, who stayed half a body length slower from his foregoing finisher ended his race in seventh place by clocking a time of 1 minute and 53.53 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Guy Barnea of Israel, who was 0.04 seconds slower and posted an effort of 1 minute and 53.57 seconds.
In addition, Kawecki expressed happiness over his victory and received medal and accolade after the conclusion of the session.
