Radoslaw Kawecki captures Men’s 200m backstroke gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Radoslaw Kawecki of Poland captured gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on day two of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Doha, Qatar on Sunday, October 7.
The Polish player, who ranked second in the preliminary rounds, restored order in the playoff as he displayed more urgency towards the finishing blockade for gold medal.
Kawecki remained in a considerable lead over his toughest competitor and proved his mettle for gold medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 50.89 seconds.
The champion was followed by Kazuki Watanabe of Japan, who was 1.75 seconds apart and secured silver medal of the event by producing an effort of 1 minute and 52.64 seconds.
Watanabe was traced by Ashley Delaney of Australia, who was 0.22 seconds apart and occupied third position of the event by submitting a time of 1 minute and 52.86 seconds.
Fourth best spot of the race was obtained by Yu Zhang of China, who suffered a deficit of one and a half body length from his foregoing finisher and transpired on the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 54.22 seconds.
Zhang was followed by Stanislav Donets of Russia, who stayed 0.23 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall as fifth best finisher by reporting a time of 1 minute and 54.45 seconds.
The Russian swimmer was chased by Nelson Silva Junior of Brazil, who was nearly three body lengths behind and surfaced on the finishing end as sixth best finisher by clocking a time of 1 minute and 57.23 seconds.
Seventh spot of the race was secured by Taiqi Lin of China, who remained 1.67 seconds away from overpowering his foregoing finisher and touched the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 58.90 seconds.
Lin remained 0.10 seconds ahead of Omar Pinzon of Colombia, who ended his race in eighth place by touching the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 59.10 seconds.
In addition, Kawecki was overjoyed with his gold finish in the race and expressed that he would try hard to impress his fans by continuing the same in future events.
