Radoslaw Kawecki occupies Men’s 200m backstroke gold: Day six – European LC Championships
Radoslaw Kawecki of Poland occupied gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on day six of the continued European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Saturday, May 26.
Kawecki lived up to the expectations of his supporters by dominated his way to the finishing end for gold medal. His stupendous efforts placed comfortably ahead of his strongest competitor and he tapped the finishing wall for the title of the event.
With his invincible efforts, he enjoyed an advantage of almost half body length over his closest challenger and tapped the finishing end for the crown of the event by reporting a time of 1 minute and 55.28 seconds.
The champion was followed by Peter Bernek of Hungary, who was 0.60 seconds apart and reached the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 55.88 seconds.
Third finest spot of the race was secured by Yakov Yan Toumarkin of Israel, who was nearly 1.50 seconds slower and settled on the finishing blockade with an effort of 1 minute and 57.35 seconds.
Similarly, Toumarkin was trailed by Sebastiano Ranfagni of Italy, who was 0.64 seconds slower from upsetting the bronze medallist and clocked a time of 1 minute and 57.99 seconds.
Last event of the session was Men’s 50m breaststroke playoff, where Damir Dugonjic of Slovenia proved his eligibility for gold medal of the discipline.
Dugonjic served notice of his talent by winning gold medal of the discipline with the timing of 27.32 seconds.
He was chased by Fabio Scozzoli of Italy, who remained 0.17 seconds slower and finished second in the event with the timing of 27.49 seconds.
Scozzoli was followed by Panagiotis Samilidis of Greece, who settled on the finishing blockade as bronze medallist by clocking a time of 27.64 seconds.
Fourth position of the event was obtained by Mattia Pesce of Italy, who was only 0.01 seconds apart and ended his swim in a time of 27.65 seconds.
In addition, the position holders were called upon the victory stand at the prize ceremony of the tournament while the session ended after the events.
