anybody else notice that he didn't make any fist pumping or any celebrations of a single point throughout most of the second half of the second set and ALL of the 3rd set? He didn't roll over on the ground when he won or make any elaborate show of celebration and he had just made tennis history!! In his interview withthe French broadcaster he only said what a great person Federer is and in the interview with Alex Corretja immediately after that he looked as if he wanted to cry for Federer. I don't think he is really enjoying his triumph because he feels so bad for his friend Federer.

He is so sober and subdued. I have never seen him like this after such an important victory. Anybody agree? Your thoughts, pls.

  1. Oh c`mon!! Not enjoying?! Please!

  2. yes

  3. I agree with you.  I guess it's hard to feel celebratory when your opponent didnt put up as good a fight as you expected.

  4. I gotta hand it to him, he's got a ton of heart and great character. Yeah he feels bad because he knows in some way he's ruining history. It's like a once in a million years painter comes along to paint the most compelling, sophisticated and beautiful painting ever in the history of the human race and some jackson pollock guys jumps out of the blue with electric guitar music blarring and just destroys it with his chaos.

  5. he did do the fist pump but why make a scene when it is so easy to win

i am not a fan of nadal but i resepect him anough to say that he is the best i have seen

  6. Im a big fan of Nadal and it was great to watch history being made, he demolished Federer both physically and mentally. I hope now that Nadal can beat him at Wimbledon and it'll balance the power in tennis.

  7. Im speechless lol !!! Congratulations to Rafa he played amazing tennis throughout this tournament it was well deserved. Im excstatic lol I dont no what to do with myself haha I sound crazy i know. Im going out to celebrate :) :) :) He brushed Roger aside like another one of his victims it was just Spectacular to watch.

He is such a great sportsman and gentleman he didnt even fall down on the ground this year when won championship point lolol !!! I think he felt sorry for Roger. Vamos Rafa !!!

Keep up that great form and win at wimby this year been sooo close the past 2, this is his year :) Vamos !!!

  8. Nadal is a great guy, a tremendous champion, and a more than worthy future number one. Congratulations to all his fans.

  9. i agree .nadal is one of the few not-too-proud-to-win tennis players and above all humble as he appreciates his opponents and never undermines them, even if he wins

nadal is the best and a unique person

  10. I noticed that too. I was surprised by the fect that he did not have the clay on his clothes because he would usually roll on it after his win.

He probably did so that Federer would not find his lost so hard. I'm mean it's kinda hard to convince yourself you can try again next year when your opponent is celebrating right in front of you. Let us remember that nadal respects federer alot. When Nadal was just new to the seen, he always mentioned that his favorite player was Federer. He accepted the title like a gentleman would.

EDIT:  This was Rafa's statement about his celebration and respecting Federer: (Read the rest from the link below)

    Q.  First, your reaction upon winning was not very emotional.  Can you explain why?  And two, do you believe that a big victory like this, to beat an opponent so badly, can be a psychological blow to that opponent?

A: "First thing, I won 6 0 the third set, no?  And without mistake. I didn't prepare when I celebrate something, when I go to the ground. When I win, I didn't think about this before, so that's the feeling in that moment. Today it was tough for Roger, I think, and I have to be respectful with one very good guy.  I have very good relationship with him, no?  Anyway, doesn't matter.  But I think I feel I have to be more respectful, no?

  11. yup youre right...it was Nadal at his humbling best that we saw...his gestures could read like "if only i could perform not with my best i would do it but i cant..." now, im interested to hear from Borg as to why he didnt back up Rafa when he himself said that he saw himself in Rafa a few months ago....Rafa was as dominating as Borg was but im really perplexed why he said that...

  12. He has earned my respect today. The kid definitely played nearly perfect tennis. I am still quite disappointed for my Federer but Wimbledon is around the corner !!!! Once again congrats to the Y/A Nadal fans !!!!!
