Newly appointed Napoli manager, Rafa Benitez, has admitted that he would love Edinson Cavani to stay at the club. He is optimistic that the striker will remain at the club for next season as the side prepare for life under the
former Chelsea man.
Benitez was brilliant with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 last season as he guided the club to UEFA Europa League victory and ensured a place in the UEFA Champions League for the coming season by finishing third on the Premier League standings table.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 manager stated that Cavani has been in the limelight as he has performed extremely well in the last few seasons for Napoli. He admitted that Cavani is a world-class striker which is the prime reason many clubs
are after him.
The tactician admitted that he has had a conversation with the player via text messages and he is confident that the striker will be at the Naples-based side in the next campaign.
“Everybody talks about him because he's very strong and he's an important player. We're happy he is with us for now and I hope he can remain here. I've talked with him, we talked by texts. We learn from our mistakes, we know what
we did wrong and what we can improve,” Benitez was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Spaniard also talked about his unsuccessful time as the Inter Milan manager. He admitted that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 and the project is also different. Benitez added that Napoli’s plan for the future
and the recent performances were enough to convince him to be the manager at the club.
“Napoli are a different team compared to Inter. The project is different, there is a willingness to grow as a club and that was enough for me to accept the offer. It's a strong team, who want to grow up and I hope to help them
do that in the future,” he concluded.
Edinson Cavani is reportedly being chased by the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester City. The striker has a €63 million buy-out clause in his current contract.
