http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786’s manager, Rafa Benitez has gone on to admit that he is not too happy with the way his team played in their game against Tottenham Hotspur, as he thinks his side could have easily killed the game off, if they had maintained their focus.
The match saw Chelsea and Tottenham take on each other, in what was considered to be a must win for Tottenham, in hopes for them to keep their Champions League dreams alive.
However, that was not the case as the match ended in a two all draw. Chelsea went on to take the lead in the game on two occasions, and both the times they took the lead, they were unable to maintain this lead.
Benitez feels that this is because of the fact that his team was just not up to the mark with their mentality in the game. At the same time he is certain that the side had a number of opportunities where they could have killed off the game, but they failed to do so.
The Blues manager is reported to have said: "I think that we had four or five counterattacks to finish the game, and we didn't do it"
"[Spurs] were pushing and we had to defend but we had the chances on the counterattack to score the third goal and finish it.”
"We could defend both [goals] a little bit better because we are talking about transition defending when we conceded the first goal and with the second it was the same.”
"I think [the second] was offside anyway, the position of Adebayor - but we still had to stay more compact and be more aggressive in defence.”
"The second half was too open. In the first half we had control of the game, we gave them the opportunities to play on the counterattack.”
The team can now go on and make it up to their manager as they look to win the Europa League trophy. However, with a Champions League spot now confirmed for the team, it is a wonder as to just how they are going to be performing in their last game of the season.
At the same time, it is rather uncertain, as to what the future holds in store for Benitez.
